Jewel Brewington once again represented her Fike High varsity girls basketball team well in the Wilson Christmas tournament, helping the Golden Demons to the Eastern Carolina Classic title last week, making her this week’s Farris & Thomas Law Student-Athlete of the Week.
Jewel was named to the all-tournament team for the fourth straight year after helping the Demons beat Beddingfield 80-34, setting tourney records for points by a team and winning margin, and Southern Nash 82-47, topping their own mark for points scored in a game. She averaged 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds as Fike remained unbeaten through 10 games.
The daughter of Cherity and Lamont Brewington of Wilson, Jewel has a 3.9 GPA at Fike while taking Honors courses. She previously took Career and College Promise dual-enrollment classes through Wilson Community College as well. Jewel also runs winter and spring track and field and is a member of the school’s athletic training staff when not competing.
