NCDOT and city prepare for snow and ice

The North Carolina Department of Transportation will begin spreading salt brine on roadways in Wilson and Wilson County early Thursday morning in advance of icy weather that is forecast to arrive Friday evening.

Quentin Noland, county maintenance engineer in Wilson County for the North Carolina Department of Transportation, said crews worked to mix salt brine and load trucks on Wednesday at the NCDOT maintenance facility in Wilson.

Noland said the state will have 12 trucks working on pretreatment of roads. Trucks will be pretreating U.S. 301, U.S. 264, N.C. 587, Interstate 95, U.S. 117, N.C. 58, U.S. 264 Alternate, N.C. 42, N.C. 111 and N.C. 222…
