Daniel tops Clinton with dominating second half performance

The Clinton Red Devils gave up 23 unanswered points on their way to a 37-12 loss Friday night to No. 2 in 4A, the Daniel Lions.

“The first half was positive. We were one play away from scoring drives. The second half was a tale of two cities. We were not cohesive,” said Clinton football head coach Corey Fountain.

Clinton’s two touchdowns were by Kason Copeland in the first half and Rhett Gilliam with two seconds left in the game. Javen Cook ran the ball 23 times for 83 yards. Quarterback Tushawan Richardson had 120 yards passing before being injured. The game was 14-6 at halftime but wound up 37-12 as Daniel ran the ball 70 yards for one touchdown and threw the ball for 319 yards…
