Highway Patrol urges people to stay home as they prepare for winter weather impacts

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – South Carolina Highway Patrol says while they are ready to hit the roads and help people in the event of winter weather accidents, their advice is to stay off the roads Tuesday and Wednesday if possible.

“If you must travel, we ask that you stay on main roadways. Our South Carolina Department of Transportation has been doing an outstanding job for the past few days treating as many roads as possible. Is every Road in South Carolina going to be treated, probably not,” Corporal Nick Pye with Highway Patrol says.

Pye says the Highway Patrol is watching forecasts and adjusting in real-time to be prepared to respond to impact areas. As of Tuesday afternoon, they expect the coast to get the worst of the wintry mix and therefore they are ready to pull troops to the coast as needed…
