From Seneca and the Upstate and elsewhere, judicial chambers were filled last week at the state capital for the investiture of Letitia Verdin of Greenville. Supreme Court justice Letitia Verdin is the newest member of the South Carolina Supreme Court and only the third woman ever to sit on the state’s highest court. Verdin is one of three daughters of the late Angela and Harry Hamilton, two prominent Seneca educators. From the state’s chief justice and other speakers, Verdin was described as wonderful and incomparable for achievement, including her demeanor as an earlier jurist in the family court and the appeals court.
