13-year-old charged with school media threats to New Britain school

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) — A 13-year-old accused of making a social media threat to Pulaski Middle School this week has been arrested, New Britain police say.

Police said staff reported a group of middle school students on Sept. 24, after receiving screenshots of threatening messages made on a social media platform.

A 13-year-old male was found responsible and issued a juvenile summons, according to police. He was charged with first-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace.

“We recognize the impact cases like this have on our community. Parents, students, and school staff should not worry about being safe in their learning environments,” said New Britain Police Chief Matt Marino said in a statement. “We are always committed to seeing cases like this through, knowing it provides closure and comfort for those involved…”
