Chicago is Gaining 90 seconds of Daylight A Day—And That Number is Only Increasing

Slowly but surely, the days are getting longer in Chicago , providing a glimmer of hope in the midst of a brutally cold winter.

According to time and date, daylight has increased by an average of roughly 98 seconds since the beginning of the month.

And here’s the kicker, that number is only going to increase from here!

On January 28, Chicago will observe its first 5pm sunset since November 2024. By that point, daylight will have increased by over 30 minutes since the winter solstice back on December 21, 2024…
