CPD officer shot on South Side: Reports

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A Chicago police officer and a 16-year-old boy were both shot during an arrest on the city’s South Side Thursday afternoon, officials said.

Chicago Police Supt. Larry Snelling said it was about 12:30 p.m. when officers approached a 16-year-old boy for what he described as an “investigative stop” near 56th Street and Shields Avenue.

During the stop, Snelling said officers discovered that the teenager was armed. As they tried to disarm him, the gun accidentally fired a single bullet, which struck the teen in the groin and the officer in the leg…
