Decatur, Georgia – As the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) announces the closing of the Miller Road bridge over Interstate 20, Stonecrest and Decatur residents and commuters are encouraged to get ready for significant traffic rerouting. Starting Tuesday, January 7, 2025, this major detour is a part of ongoing development for the I-285/I-20 East Interchange project.
Depending on the state of the weather, the bridge renovation is set for eight months and will require complete overpass closure. All traffic will be diverted over an off-site detour route during this time. To navigate the restricted portion and reach communities on either side of the overpass, drivers will utilize Panola Industrial Boulevard, Panola Road, and Minola Drive. Access to neighborhood businesses, private driveways, and public services will remain open even with closure.
Drivers are advised to plan extra travel time since those who are used to driving throughout this region may expect some delays from the diversion.
