Blast of cold will move through Hampton Roads, along with chances for snow

Hampton Roads could get another round of winter weather this coming week, thanks to another storm system moving across the South.

Jeff Orrock, meteorologist-in-charge at the National Weather Service in Wakefield, said there is still a lot of uncertainty regarding the intensity and track of the storm. Even so, Orrock said, one certainty is cold temperatures are here to stay for a while. Highs will be in the 20s with nighttime lows in the single digits or teens. Minimum wind chills could go as low as zero to 5 degrees.

According to historical data from the weather service, the last time Norfolk had multiple hours of wind chill below zero was on Christmas Eve in 2022, when wind chill dropped to -3 degrees in Hampton Roads. It has been seven years since wind chills were below 5 degrees for multiple days…
