PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Portsmouth-based U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Seneca (WMEC 906) is back home following a two-month deployment.
The crew was on a 61-day counter-drug patrol in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. During their patrol, the Seneca crew helped Costa Rican forces stop a vessel carrying illegal drugs. The Coast Guard said about 3,300 pounds of marijuana, valued at more than $3 million, was seized.
The cutter’s missions typically are counter-drug and migrant interdiction operations, enforcement of laws and treaties, and search and rescue in support of U.S. Coast Guard operations throughout the Western Hemisphere…
