BROWNSVILLE, Texas — A routine traffic stop in Brownsville resulted in the arrest of a 29-year-old man for possession of marijuana and controlled substances. Sergio Alejandro Gomez Morales was detained after a Cameron County Sheriff’s K9 Deputy detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from his vehicle.On December 2, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a K9 Deputy observed a black Cadillac SUV with expired registration on Hwy 48 and N. Minnesota Ave., according to a press release from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office. Upon stopping the vehicle, the deputy identified the driver as Sergio Alejandro Gomez Morales, who voluntarily handed over a THC vape cartridge.
