Delone Catholic’s Stetter, Heacock capture district girls’ tennis doubles gold

Delone Catholic girls’ tennis has a district championship to its name for the first time ever.

Sophomores Baileigh Stetter and Ashley Heacock paired to win the District 3 Class 2A doubles championship Saturday at Hershey Racquet Club, routing defending champions Sarah Schnatz and Isabella Logozzo of Berks Catholic 6-1, 6-0 for the gold medal.

Stetter and Heacock, who qualified for districts by finishing third in the York-Adams League Class 2A doubles tournament, made a massive statement Friday afternoon by beating the top-seeded tandem of Wyomissing’s Charlotte Reedy and Peyton Carlson 6-3, 7-5 in the quarterfinals. They followed with a Saturday semifinal triumph of 6-2, 6-0 over Annville-Cleona’s No. 4-seed Amelia Summers and Nia Hafey that set up the championship bout…
