TSU approved to proceed with multi-million dollar construction project

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — On Monday, Tennessee State University (TSU) got the green light to construct two new College of Agriculture buildings.

The approval came at a Tennessee State Building Commission meeting where commissioners approved the design phase for both a Food and Animal Science building and an Environmental Science building. Overall, the plan would add a combined 110,000 square feet to the campus and includes a cost of $63 million.

The announcement coincided with the new interim president Dwayne Tucker’s first day on the job. Tucker said he was excited about the approval, calling the buildings symbols of growth.

“Today’s actions also demonstrate the State government’s continued trust in TSU and ongoing support of our future,” Tucker said. “It also marks the beginning of our journey to enhance educational offerings and research capabilities with these state-of-the-art buildings.”…
