RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Nearly two years and three months after closing the Texas Beach pedestrian bridge due to “severe structural damage,” the city is soliciting contractors to bid for a rehabilitation project.
Richmond posted an invitation for bids for the Texas Beach Pedestrian Bridge Rehabilitation project on Wednesday, Oct. 30. According to the project overview, the rehabilitation is a “high priority for the City as it seeks to retore safe access to this charming riverside park land.”
Constructed from steel and concrete in the 1970s, the bridge was closed in Sept. 2022 after it was determined to be structurally unsafe during an inspection.
