The Military Women’s Memorial in Washington turns 27

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KTUU) – It‘s been nearly three decades since the Military Women’s Memorial opened to the public, located near Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.

According to Operation Mary Louise, an Alaska and community-based women’s veteran project, the state is home to approximately 10,000 women veterans — with less than 1/3 enrolled in VA health services.

The memorial broke ground in June 1995, took just over two years to complete, and opened for public viewing on Oct. 18, 1997, according to the memorial’s webpage…
