Alena Mcquater: Recognizing Our Youth and Black Excellence

Alena Mcquarter was born on Nov. 19, 2008, to Daphane Mcquarter in Fontana, California. Alena was homeschooled through Wicker until 5th grade when she started traditional school to finish her education in an advanced curriculum program. She graduated high school at the age of 12 years old which if extremely young compared to the average age of majority high school graduates. Alena then went a step further in her climb for success and attended The University of Arizona after High School. She majored in astronomical and planetary science and chemistry in light to become a NASA Engineer. She was the youngest African American to have the honor of being an intern at NASA at the age of 12.
