On Tuesday morning, a 911 call led San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies to a scene that quickly escalated into violence. Aldo Maldonado Romero, a 33-year-old from unincorporated Fontana, reported an emergency but disconnected the call abruptly. Arriving at the 8200 block of Cherry Avenue around 11:05 a.m., authorities discovered that Romero had violated a Criminal Protective Order and was already under Post Release Community Supervision for prior elder abuse involving the same victim, as reported by the SBSD Fontana Sheriff’s Department.

A subsequent encounter with Maldonado south of Foothill Boulevard on Almond Avenue turned physical. The suspect, who was exhibiting erratic behavior, punched an overmatched deputy sheriff when they tried to evaluate him. Despite his aggressive demeanor, deputies managed to subdue and arrest Maldonado. He was taken for medical evaluation before being booked for his felonies. The deputy involved sustained minor injuries that didn’t require medical treatment, according to the SBSD Fontana Sheriff’s Department.

In response to the day’s events, the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department’s official statement advises anyone with knowledge about the incident to get in contact. Anonymous reports can also be filed through the We-Tip Hotline or its associated website…
