Miami felon sentenced to 20 years for firearm offenses

MIAMI, Florida — A Miami man has been sentenced to 240 months in prison for firearm-related offenses, including attempting to shoot a victim and confronting a tow truck driver with a weapon. U.S. District Court Judge David S. Leibowitz handed down the sentence to 28-year-old Olivier Ricardy Alexandre, who had previously pled guilty to charges of possession of ammunition and a firearm by a convicted felon.

On February 15, 2023, Alexandre, a former track and field athlete, was sentenced to probation in Warren County, Kentucky, on felony charges related to marijuana trafficking. Less than a month later, on March 13, 2023, Alexandre fired at least 18 rounds at a victim in Miami-Dade County, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.
