Miami Teen with Special Needs Charged with Battery on Teacher, Community Calls for Supportive Measures

Tensions ran high at Miami Northwestern Senior High School after an alleged physical altercation between a student and a teacher led to an arrest. As reported by Local 10 News, Conley Williams, an 18-year-old special needs student, was accused of punching Reewa Hill, a teacher at the school. The incident reportedly took place just before 9 a.m. yesterday. Hill claimed Williams hit her twice in the chest and once in the arm, charges that were corroborated by multiple witnesses.

Following the incident, Hill sought medical treatment while Williams was taken into custody and charged with battery on a school official. Both the motive for the student’s actions and the details of Williams’ statement to officers were omitted from the public arrest report. In bond court, Miami-Dade County Judge Mindy Glazer didn’t hesitate to admonish Williams, stating, “You need to be respectful to your teachers and keep your hands to yourself if you want to have the benefit of getting your education and graduating high school,” in a statement obtained by Local 10 News.
