Former Van Nuys physician and associates settle for $15 million over false claims allegations

LOS ANGELES, California ( MyCaliforniaNews.com ) — A former Van Nuys physician and his associates have agreed to pay $15 million to settle allegations of submitting false claims to Medicare and Medi-Cal, the Justice Department announced.

The settlement involves Mohammad Rasekhi, Sheila Busheri, Southern California Medical Center (SCMC), and R & B Medical Group, Inc., doing business as Universal Diagnostic Laboratories (UDL).

Rasekhi, who surrendered his medical license in December 2024, founded SCMC and co-owned UDL. Busheri serves as the chief executive officer of SCMC and co-owner and CEO of UDL. SCMC operates six clinics in Southern California, while UDL is a reference and esoteric laboratory in the region…
