You’ve heard that when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. But what about when life doesn’t give you lemons? One California resident took it upon himself to secure his own citrus, and not legally. Luckily, local police put the squeeze on him.
Sheriff’s deputies of Riverside County, California, stopped 68-year-old Dionicio Fierros of Los Angeles one Friday morning. Ironically, they pulled him over on Grapefruit Boulevard in the town of Thermal. Why? Suspicion of a fruit heist.
No, this wasn’t any regular old traffic stop. You might say the police were squeezing locals after a series of large produce thefts across Thermal, Mecca, and Oasis. So they had reasonable suspicion to poke around Fierros car. I’m sure they soured when they found multiple bags of freshly picked lemons.
When all was said and done, police found Fierros was hauling 800 pounds of lemons. He’s going to have a hard time convincing a jury they were all for the family lemon bar recipe…
