Knights Go Down to the Wire With Tigers

Savannah, GA – The Knights were away from their home court on Wednesday, September 18th as they traveled down I-16 to Savannah, Georgia to take on the Tigers of Savannah State University. The Knights previously defeated the Tigers in five sets and the Knights looked to finish the season sweep.

The first set would start off the way the Knights would want as they would win the first three points. The Knights would continue to put on pressure as they would extend their lead to seven points but the Tigers would come back to tie the set at 14-14. The Knights would persevere as they would take back the lead and go on to win the set 25-22. The second set would not start off how the Knights would want as they would fall behind but they would fight back to tie the set at 18-18. The Knights would run out of steam late as they would lose the set 25-22. The Knights would fall behind 5-1 to start the third set but would tie the set at 6-6. The set would remain close throughout but the Knights would come out on the right side as they would win the set 26-24. The fourth set of the match would see the Tigers win the first six points but the Knights would fight back to get within one point but the Tigers would pull away and the Knights would lose the set 25-16. The match would come down to the fifth set where the Knights would fall behind but would tie the set at 8-8. The Knights would come within one point of winning the match before the Tigers would win the last three points of the match and the Knights would lose the set 16-14. Caitlyn McCall Wolf led the Knights with 15 kills, Beau Houston led with 21 assists, and Paige Collier led with 39 digs…
