CDC: Suicide rates climbing among Black youth

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The suicide rate among Black youth is rising faster than other ethnic groups, according to federal data recently released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention .

The data shows that in 2022, the suicide rate for Black youth between the ages 10 and 19 passed that of white youth for the first time.

From 2007 to 2020, the suicide rate among Black 10 to 17-year-olds rose by 144%, according to other CDC data
