HARTFORD, CT. (WWLP) – Police are stepping up patrols in the Hartford area after a string of ATM thefts.
Police investigating Christmas Day shooting on I-91 North in Enfield
Police in East Hartford, Windsor Locks, and Manchester are investigating. They say thieves not only broke into the gas stations but in some cases tore the doors right off the hinges to split open the ATMs.
“There is a variety of different tactics when it comes to stealing an ATM, and most of them involve some kind of brute force, to remove the ATM and break into them, and it does seem in our case there was some type of pride device used to bust open the ATM machine,” said Sgt. Marc Caruso of the East Hartford Police Department.
