Beach Bows gear up for Big West Tournament

The University of Hawaii’s women’s beach volleyball team, ranked No. 11 nationally, is set to compete in the Big West Beach Volleyball Championship on April 25-26 in Long Beach, California. The Rainbow Wahine aim to capture their fourth conference title and first since 2018 against six other teams under a new tournament format.

The competition will kick off with all teams participating in modified pool play on the first day. The top six teams will advance to a single-elimination bracket on the second day to determine the champion. Hawaii, with a record of 20-11, is seeded third and will start against the sixth-seeded CSU Bakersfield at 9:30 a.m. PT on April 25. A successful day in pool play could secure Hawaii a spot in the championship semifinals on April 26.

Hawaii holds an 18-8 record in the history of the tournament, winning the title in its first three participations (2016, 2017, 2018). Since then, the championship has been dominated by Cal Poly and Long Beach State, with Hawaii facing tough competition particularly from Cal Poly, which has been responsible for seven of Hawaii’s eight losses in the tournament…
