AIEA, Hawaii (Island News) — It was a harrowing day for three hikers in their teens and 20s today. After hiking up the Aiea Loop Trail this morning, they wound up in a dangerous place and couldn’t get down.
Honolulu Fire Department rushed to their aid and arrived at the trail around 12:45 p.m. 13 firefighters worked to secure a landing zone so helicopters could fly the hikers to safety.
Once Air 1 got to their location, HFD checked for injuries to confirm they weren’t hurt. HFD and the hikers flew to the landing zone and returned before 1:30 p.m…
