HONOLULU (Island News) – Scammers are once again targeting dental and other medical professionals in Hawaii.
The state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) put out a warning Monday, saying scammers threaten dental and other medical professionals with an investigation, in hopes of gaining personal and sensitive information.
The DCCA says this is similar to reports in November 2024, where criminals pose as state officials, using Caller ID spoofing to make the call appear to be from an official government agency. They then contact either current or former dental licensees and request personal information…
