‘Deeply offensive’: Board of Regents vice chair resigns, protesting Jeff Landry chair appointment

Louisiana Board of Regents Vice Chair T. Jay Seale III has resigned, calling Gov. Jeff Landry’s recent appointment of Misti Cordell as chair of the board “deeply offensive.”

Seale said that Landry “put someone in charge who was loyal to him” and that service on the board would be “a charade whenever the governor wants to order something to happen.”

Seale said he also took issue with the fact that Landry made the decision without notifying Gary Solomon Jr., who until this week was chair. He also noted that Cordell is new to the Regents, having only been appointed in January and sworn in in March…
