STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — One Staten Island elected official wants to see more micro-mobility options for Staten Islanders, and she thinks the Staten Island Ferry may be the perfect place to start.
In a Dec. 26 letter to Mayor Eric Adams, Councilmember Kamillah Hanks floated the possibility of using vacant vehicle decks on certain ferries as a bike-share dock and charging station for e-bikes and e-scooters.
“[D]uring my recent frequent trips on the Ferry to and from City Hall, I have observed commuters resorting to charging their personal e-bikes and e-scooters onboard the Staten Island Ferry due to the absence of an official safe and reliable charging station,” wrote the North Shore councilwoman, a Democrat…
