NEW BRUNSWICK – Maria Castanos said her life has never been sweeter since she left New York City four years ago to move into the Lord Stirling Apartments, a 49-unit senior living space at 40 Hassart St. that was once a school.
“It’s friendly and supportive and that’s what makes it easy to feel at home,” she said. “It may be a senior apartment, but for me, this is an active community. We organize our bingo on Wednesdays or dominos on Thursdays or help my neighbors to get their American appointment (citizenship). We are family.”
