CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) is criticizing a court decision that allowed a man accused in an Interstate 485 shooting to leave jail on an unsecured bond, highlighting ongoing tensions over pretrial release policies in Mecklenburg County.
Anil Dabydeen, charged with assault with a deadly weapon in what authorities describe as a road rage incident Wednesday, was released Friday on a $100,000 unsecured bond, requiring only his written promise to appear in court.
“It’s unfortunately a very common topic that we have,” Daniel Redford with the Charlotte FOP said. “They are quick to blame the DA’s office on it, but this is a decision made by the judicial system and the magistrate’s office.”…
