Ground has officially been broken on the future West Huntsville Recreation Center, marking the start of a year-long construction project in the city’s fifth district.
The new facility, set to be located at 150 Martin Road, just west of Zierdt Road, will cover 27,350 square feet and will closely resemble the popular Mark Russell Recreation Center on Taylor Road.
“This is an exciting step forward in our commitment to enhancing the quality of life across all parts of the city,” said Mayor Tommy Battle. “While this area has seen significant residential growth, it has been underserved in terms of recreational facilities. That’s about to change.”…
