HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — In the spirit of giving, Fox54 and its parent company have made a significant contribution to literacy in North Alabama. The TEGNA Foundation has donated $4,500 to the Boys and Girls Club of North Alabama, funding an innovative new book vending machine designed to inspire young readers.
The unique program goes beyond traditional reading initiatives by creating an exciting incentive for children to read and learn. Club representatives say the vending machine serves as a motivational tool, encouraging children to achieve specific reading goals.
“It allows our kids to have a goal and something to look forward to and be excited about and make reading fun,” Beth Morring explained. “So throughout the program they have certain goals they have to reach. Maybe it’s reading a certain number of books. Maybe it’s just being a great listener. Maybe its just helping a teacher out for the week…
