INDIANAPOLIS — Dozens of protestors gathered at the Indiana Statehouse Thursday and called on lawmakers to reconsider an immigration notice bill that’s now one step closer to passing out of the Indiana House.
”It’s invoking fear in our community,” Carolina Castoreno with the Indiana Latino Democratic Caucus (INDLC) said. ”There are so many people who will be affected by a bill like this simply based on racial profiling.”
If HB 1393 becomes law, state and local law enforcement would need to report names, addresses and other identifying information of arrested individuals suspected of being in the country illegally to ICE.
