Indiana has a new favorite fried chicken chain, and unfortunately for Hoosiers, it’s harder to find than many of its competitors.
I’ve had my fair share of fried chicken over the years, but most of that has come from my local IGA or JayC Store, depending on where I was living at the time. Grocery store fried chicken has always been my favorite, so I don’t visit many of the big restaurant chains all that often. That said, there are some I like more than others. When it comes to the most popular fried chicken chain in Indiana, I’m definitely a fan, but perhaps not as big a fan as most Hoosiers.
The Most Popular Chicken Chains in America
In 2024, we Americans are blessed with an abundance of fried chicken options all across the United States. According to Nation’s Restaurant News, popular U.S. chicken chains include places like Church’s Chicken, Raising Cane’s, Wingstop, Zaxby’s, Popeyes, KFC, Chick-fil-A, and Bojangles. The latter is definitely my favorite of all time, as it’s hard to beat those Cajun Filet biscuits paired with fresh Bo-rounds. Unfortunately, we don’t have a Bojangles in Indiana, but we do have other spots from the list. One of those even checks in as the most popular choice among Hoosiers.
Indiana’s Favorite Fried Chicken Chain
According to the map above, Indiana’s favorite fried chicken chain is none other than Zaxby’s. Famous for its signature Chicken Fingerz, sandwiches, wings, and Zax Sauce, the first location opened in Statesboro, Georgia, in 1990. Since then, the chain has expanded to 19 states, with more than 600 locations, according to World Population Review.
