The Indianapolis community has been struck by tragedy following the death of a teenage girl found shot on the south side of the city. As reported by FOX59, the victim was discovered in the morning at an apartment complex, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) has since initiated an ongoing homicide investigation.
According to WTHR, the call came in just after 11 a.m. yesterday, and upon arrival at the Laurelwood apartment complex, located at the 1400 block of Salisbury Lane, near Shelby Street and East Sumner Avenue, IMPD officers found her, believed to be a teenager, lying outside with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. Despite the snow cloaking the grim scene, the question of her association with the apartment complex remains unanswered.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office has been working together with IMPD to determine the exact manner and cause of death of the young girl, whose identity has yet to be disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
