Soccer Recap: Ithaca’s Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

It was fun while it lasted, but Ithaca’s undefeated season came to an end after four games on Friday. They fell 3-1 to the Horseheads Blue Raiders. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Little Red came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps’ New York soccer rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Blue Raiders are ranked 94th).

Having lost for the first time this season, Ithaca fell to 4-1. As for Horseheads, they have been performing well recently as they’ve won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ithaca will challenge Maine-Endwell at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Ithaca will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Horseheads, they will square off against Elmira at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Elmira’s defense has only allowed 0.5 goals per game this season, so Horseheads’ offense will have their work cut out for them…
