Warmer and a chance of snow for the next seven days

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Warmer than we thought it was going to be today. We landed in the low-to-mid-30s across the board and those clouds rolled in and out over the past few hours.

We stay dry otherwise through the weekend save for a few snowflakes that will amount to a dusting at best. Temperatures hover in the single digits to mid-teens overnight.

On Saturday we have a wavering high pressure system that will keep us dry but break down just enough to allow for some overnight flurries. A rather weak cold front moves across the Great Lakes and approaches the Twin Tiers Saturday night and moves through in earnest on Sunday, spreading snow showers well north of us in Central New York late Saturday night into Sunday morning. Then the showers will shift south mainly east of I-81 from the Twin Tiers northward. Any snow accumulation is expected to be minor at best. Our next chance for measurable snow is next week and even then it’s not a lot.

Tonight in the low-teens with a flurry possible, then in the upper-20s to close out the work week under a partly cloudy sky…
