Only two Jackson area food facilities, both of which are school cafeterias in Hinds County, received a failing health inspection grade in December 2024, according to the Mississippi State Department of Health.
As on Jan. 7, one of the two educational institutions had conducted a corrective follow-up inspection.
Hinds County
Forest Hill High School , located at 2607 Raymond Road in Jackson, received a failing “C” rating during a scheduled inspection on Dec. 19. The inspection notes the school lacked adequate water pressure for both hot and cold water. As of Jan. 7, the school had not conducted a follow-up inspection. Previously, Forest Hill High School had received one other failing health inspection grade in November 2022, with the inspection noting the presence of insects and/or rodents. This failing grade was then rectified during a follow-up inspection two days later.
Spann Elementary School , located at 1615 Brecon Drive in Jackson, originally received a failing grade during a scheduled health inspection on Nov. 18, 2024. The school then failed the corrective follow-up inspection conducted on Dec. 2, with the inspection notes citing a lack of adequate hand washing facilities. On Dec. 4, the school passed a second corrective follow-up inspection and received a “B” grade. Spann Elementary School had previously received one other failing grade due to a lack of proper cold food holding temperatures during a permit inspection on April 13, 2022, which was then rectified the following month…
