JACKSON, Tenn. — We bring you an update on the construction of one elementary school in the Hub City.
Tuesday, we visited the site for the new Pope Elementary School. The campus will hold pre-k to 8th grade students. This school is expected to open during the fall 2025-26 school year.
“Seeing the last beam go up along with several members of our staff is just seeing the vision truly becoming a reality. We’re so looking forward to what we have in the very near future of what we consider to be such a positive impact,” said Tracey Vowell, Pope Elementary principal.
Tuesday afternoon, Pope staff joined JMCSS board members along with Jackson and Madison County leaders to sign the final beam at Pope’s Topping Out Ceremony.
“Because of the unanimous support of the school board and over the county commission, we’re able to make this a reality. So, we’re just excited to get together and celebrate every milestone construction journey that we’re on,” said Melissa Spurgeon, chief of staff for JMCSS.
Teachers, as well as staff that work for the Jackson-Madison County School System, have said they’re excited to be able to see that this plan was executed from point A to point Z. Now, they’re just excited to see how well it will flourish in the future.
