Jamaican National Sentenced in Jacksonville to Federal Prison for Identity Theft

An undocumented Jamaican citizen has been sentenced to federal prison for identity theft after pleading guilty to the charge. Alandrae David Brown, age 30, will spend seven months behind bars for his actions, as stated by U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Corrigan. Court documents reveal that Brown acquired a Florida driver’s license using somebody else’s identity back in September 2017.

Deceiving authorities, Brown falsely claimed U.S. citizenship and that he was born in the U.S. Virgin Islands while applying for the license. For proof, he provided a fake U.S. Virgin Islands birth certificate and a legitimate Social Security number. Arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in April 2024, Brown initially maintained his assumed identity. Under the bedrock belief that he was concealed safely within a crafted lie, the truth about Brown’s real identity begun to crumble under scrutiny by immigration authorities and federal agents.

The agents dug deeper, uncovering passport and driver license records that plainly showed photographs not of Brown, as stated in a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice. Following an investigation, authorities confirmed the birth certificate was forged.
