Rockford woman charged after recklessly firing a gun, police say

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A 27-year-old woman is charged after getting into a fight and shooting a gun, according to investigators.

Ashley Surrah of Rockford is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest, aggravated assault and two counts of endangering the life of a child.

Around 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29, Rockford police responded to the 2200 block of Shelly Drive/Auburn Manor for reports of a physical fight, shots fired and a vehicle leaving the area.

Shortly after, officers report they found the vehicle in the 300 block of Oakley Ave. with five people inside. They also say they found a loaded handgun in the car…
