Winnebago Co. Clerk’s Office tests voting machines

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – As Election Day nears, the Winnebago County Clerk‘s Office tests voting machines to make sure the technology works as it should.

The test of the Precinct Tabulation Optical Scan Technology Equipment was open to the public Wednesday morning at the Winnebago County Administration Building, 404 Elm St. in downtown Rockford. Election officials use mock ballots to make sure votes are being tabulated correctly.

“We have a lot of voters that want to make sure that their vote is counted and counted accurately. So we test, test, test machines on a regular basis,” explains Winnebago County Clerk Lori Gummow. “We test the machines before each and every election. We test the machines after each and every election. Every election authority in the state of Illinois is testing their equipment before Election Day.”…
