WEAR-TV — Clouds are moving in and the next weather maker will bring heavy rain to the Gulf Coast and heavy snow to other parts of the South.
Around 1 to 2 inches of rainfall will be possible for the WEAR-TV area. Showers could begin before sunrise on Friday, but the heaviest rain is set to move through right in the middle of the day.
Southeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph along the immediate coast Friday have prompted a Wind Advisory. The advisory is in effect Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The strong winds will cause high seas and surf. Dangerous rip currents are forecast and a Gale Warning is in effect over Gulf waters.
The National Weather Service (NWS) says, “Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion will occur Friday into Saturday. A High Risk of rip currents continues through Saturday while a High Surf Warning goes into effect 6 a.m. Friday morning through 6 a.m. Saturday morning for breaking waves of 7 to 9 feet across Alabama and Florida beaches.”…
