Springfield, MO – Southern Missouri residents are urged to prepare for a sharp drop in temperatures starting this weekend into early next week. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Springfield forecasts high temperatures 15 to 25 degrees below average, with lows nearing single digits.
According to the NWS, the bitter cold will take hold Friday night, as a strong Arctic front sweeps through the region. Normal highs of 40–45°F will plummet to the low 20s, while overnight lows could reach between 0–15°F. Wind chills may drop even further, creating dangerous outdoor conditions.
