Chanticleer dazzles audience at McCray Hall

Oct. 11, a world-renowned acapella group called Chanticleer performed on the Sharon Kay Dean Recital Hall stage in McCray Hall. The all-men’s group sang around twenty songs ranging from completely vocalized songs to renditions of classical hymns.

The group’s members change over time, but the group has won multiple awards from a Grammy to the Dale Warland/Chorus America Commissioning Award. Chanticleer was founded in 1978 in San Francisco by Louis Botto, a singer and musicologist. Their roots are in Renaissance music, but they have since expanded to include other genres like jazz, gospel, classical, and popular music…
