Indiantown resident’s request gives Council pause

INDIANTOWN — The request by a resident here for a conditional use permit to place his food truck on a Warfield Boulevard parcel ran into a roadblock of concerns from most Village Council members on Dec. 12 who worried about a plethora of immobile, permanent food trucks lining their main street.

Although Nery Perez, owner of Tacos El Buen Chapin LLC, did not attend the public hearing, Community & Economic Development Department Director Deana Freeman presented his request to the Council that evening.

“This is a request for a conditional use to allow a mobile food truck facility on land adjacent to an existing commercial building located at 15988 S.W. Warfield Blvd.,” she said. “The proposed location has an existing commercial building that operates as a convenience and clothing store. The property owners granted approval for Mr. Perez’ food truck location and operation.”…
