Palm Beach gives Breakers a break on zoning pause, allows application to move forward

An application for a major renovation and expansion of part of The Breakers Palm Beach resort can move forward, despite the town’s moratorium on new development applications .

The Town Council voted unanimously at its Development Review Committee meeting Wednesday to approve The Breakers’ request for a waiver from the town’s zoning-in-progress, which paused new requests for bars, restaurants, nightclubs and for-profit private clubs through the end of April.

That means the town’s staff can begin reviewing and processing the application for the historic Palm Beach resort to propose one of its biggest projects in years: The teardown and rebuilding of its Family Entertainment Center, and the expansion of the seating area for its private Beach Club…
