Former Detroit Tiger, Paw Paw native Charlie Maxwell passes at age 97

Former Detroit Tigers outfielder and Paw Paw native Charlie Maxwell passed away Friday, the team announced on social media.

Originally making his MLB debut in 1950 for the Boston Red Sox, Maxwell played for the Tigers for eight years from 1955 to 1962.

He was a two time All-Star, being honored in 1956 and 1957. He also played baseball for Western Michigan University.
